Yesterday was the day for the pupils from Boeny, Diana and Betsiboka districts choosen forn the North area tournament in Ambanja, first stage of the national scolar rugby championship of Madagascar. After agreat carnival into the streets of the city, the pupils (boys and girls) joined by Ambanja’s youngsters took part of awareness session about health and environment, the Rugby Solidaire values and about the importance of rugby as a vehicle of empowerment of women.
The teams played in the municipal field of Ambanja with amazing fans and excited coaches under the supervision of the technical director of Malagasy Rugby and the responsible of Get Into Rugby programme. We could notice the presence of the BFV Société Générale of Ambanja team during the competition and some local celebrities (for example some directors from the national education cabinet) who came to promote this first tournament
Moreover the competition, the participants all shared an intensive time of friendliness through this weekend. The feminine team from Betsboka and the masculine one from Diana won the tournament and are qualified for the national finals on 24th and 25th of June and its great night of Rugby Solidaire in the French Institute Albet Camus in Tana. The next stage will take place in Fianarantsoa and will gather teams from the central districts on may the 27th.
